  • Dan Fleyshman is the youngest founder of a publicly traded company in history. At the age of 23, after selling 15 million dollars worth of clothing in six department store chains and surpassing expectations with his 9.5 million dollar licensing deal with STARTER apparel, Mr. Fleyshman launched the “Who’s Your Daddy” energy drink into 55,000 retail stores and military bases. 10 years after starting his licensing company in high school, Dan went on to launch Victory Poker in 2010, building the third largest team of professional players out of the 550 poker sites on the market.

Mr. Fleyshman is a very active Angel Investor and advisor to 24+ companies that range from mobile apps and tech companies, to successful monthly box subscription sites like “DollarBeardClub” and consumer products like Uwheels, both of which exceeded $5,000,000 in sales in less than 8 months.

During all of this, he’s supported 2 dozen charities before finally launching his own: www.modelcitizenfund.org creates backpacks filled with over 150 emergency supply items for the homeless. It has been the official charity of the World Series of Poker Europe the past few years and has been featured on Fox Sports, NBC, MTV, and ESPN for supplying homeless shelters, teen abuse shelters, and orphanages around the world.

Besides his passion for philanthropy, he’s also an avid poker player with multiple 1st place wins. These range from the 5k C.E.O. Poker Championship at the Palms, the Canadian Poker Tour Main Event, and the 25k high roller event at the Commerce Casino — as well as winning the 10k Chipleader Challenge at the Hard Rock.

On top of all of this, “Elevator Nights” is the quarterly event that Dan holds (free of charge) for 12 companies to present for five minutes each to 150 of his angel investor friends.

Currently his media site, 1stSlice.com, has generated 300,000,000 page views in the first nine months since launching — and is on pace to surpass one billion page views in 2016!

It's also time for the First Round Community to warm up our singing voices and dust off our dancing shoes and show the world that even though start-ups are a serious business we don't take ourselves too seriously... It is that wonderful time of year where we get together with the amazing entrepreneurs we work with and celebrate like it's Friday, where we end the year with some Spice and do our very best to spread a bit of holiday cheer...

This is the fifth anniversary of our holiday video and to celebrate we called the whole gang together to sing AND dance. Maybe call it First Round Style?

So without any more delay, we're thrilled to share with you Holiday Video 2012 - we really hope it puts a smile on your face.

    Happy Holidays!

  • 14 year-old, Claire Wineland was born with cystic fibrosis or "CF", a genetic disease that causes excessive mucus secretions and collection, especially in the lungs. In her short life, Claire has undergone dozens of surgeries and has spent weeks at a time in the hospital.

This is not, however, what characterizes her. Claire is a singer, an artist, a composer, and a natural-born comedian. She radiates with a warmth and wisdom beyond her years. She has been called a "little Buddha" a "bridge among people", and a "true old soul." She is precious to anyone who has met her, especially to her mother, Melissa, and her father, John.

On April 13, 2010 after a relatively routine surgery, Claire became septic and within 24 hours, was in complete lung failure. Her parents were given the option of watching Claire die or putting her on a dangerous oscillator vent, which no child with CF has ever come off of. Her parents opted to put her on the high powered vent and into a drug induced coma so the doctors could try everything possible to reverse the damage to her lungs and her body.

What followed was a remarkable two-week journey of prayer, love and healing. The family was buoyed by an inconceivable amount of support from friends and family. While Claire lay in her coma, kept alive by the maximum amount of life support possible, her friends and family began to pray. Spiritual groups of every possible denomination worldwide were given Claire's name or in many cases her picture, round the clock vigils of sometimes 50 or more people met in the hospital cafeteria and Claire's parents and family slept by her side and in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for 17 straight days.

So many people were inspired by Claire's journey that a public Facebook page, "Claire Wineland Love, Songs and Updates" , was created to disseminate the seemingly ever changing information. Within two weeks, the fans on the page grew to over 900. Out of this grew the desire and need for a foundation.

Claire came through this harrowing event inspired, passionate, and very excited about making a difference for other children and teens by sharing her experience, strength and hope with them. She continues to suffer many setbacks but maintains a positive attitude and believes this is the key to living a fulfilling life -- despite being burdened with such a deadly disease.

Claire and her parents want other families to experience the benefit from the kind of support that they received and continue to get; hence, this is the motivation for the foundation. Claire's experiences have catapulted her into a position of being a spokesperson and an inspirational model for people living with this disease. She has documented and created videos on how to enjoy life with Cystic Fibrosis and live life to the fullest. Claire's Place Foundation is a way for Claire to give back and make meaning of what she has had to go through; the foundation is her way to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

  • Quietly considered one of New York City's most promising independent acts, The Kin's sound is a dynamic exchange between Australian brothers Isaac and Thorald Koren. These multi-talented musicians not only write their own material, they also play multiple instruments, creating a rare and audibly stunning experience.

The talented siblings first discovered their musical abilities as teenagers. Originally from Adelaide, Australia, they grew up in a musical household (their mother, Madeleine McRae, was a cast member of the original touring production of "Hair".) Thorald, the younger Koren, began studying music at age 10, taking jazz guitar and voice lessons, while Isaac just picked up singing and taught himself to play a Fender Rhodes piano about 4 years ago. It wasn't until their late teens that they first collaborated on a song together.

The Koren brothers came to settle in NYC in 2001 and immediately hit the bar and lounge circuit as an acoustic duo. In 2003, they added on a drummer, keyboardist and bassist with whom they produced three albums: "Live at the Pussy Cat" (October 2006), "Black" (Sept. 2005), "Red" (April 2005), and their debut album "Tracing" (May 2004). The band reverted back to a duo for LPs "Rise and Fall"(2008) and "The Upside"(2009).

What's most striking is how incredibly approachable and compassionate they are. In addition to entertaining audiences, The Kin use their music to raise money for worthy causes such as the Save Darfur Coalition and the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club. Not to mention their extreme good looks and charisma have helped win the intense loyalty of several hundred fans, most of which have stuck by them for the past 3 or more years. One fan/friend remarked, "They not only look beautiful, they're beautiful inside."

The Kin have recently added the intense drumming of NYC subway performer Shakerleg to the bands lineup. Walk anywhere near the Union Square L tracks on any given evening and you will likely hear the echoing of Shakerleg's custom-welded drum set. Walk any closer and you'll be drawn to drums like the snake to the flute. One look at Shakerleg's wild style, stick-free, bare-knuckle drumming and you know he's more concerned with this moment than a long term career in drumming.

David Hasselhoff has become one of the most recognizable faces on television and throughout the world. He is not only the star and executive producer of "Baywatch Hawaii," but he's also an accomplished singer and popular recording artist. American audiences first came to know Hasselhoff when he portrayed the popular "Dr. Snapper Foster" for six seasons on CBS's soap opera, "The Young and the Restless" (1973). Lured by NBC's Brandon Tartikoff to move from daytime to prime time, Hasselhoff went on to star as "Michael Knight" in NBC's hit series "Knight Rider" (1982). The role garnered him a "People's Choice Award" for most popular actor and the show became a huge success overseas. The success of "Knight Rider" (1982) resulted in Hasselhoff's first major international following. When the show ended, Hasselhoff launched a successful recording career in Europe. In 1989, "Looking for Freedom" remained in the number one spot on the German charts for eight consecutive weeks. He has continued to perform regularly in concert and has released nine albums to date. Hasselhoff returned to episodic television as "Mitch Buchannon" on "Baywatch" (1989) when the show debuted on NBC in 1989. Though it enjoyed good ratings, the network canceled the series after only one season. Undeterred, Hasselhoff and his partners acquired the rights to the show and, based on Hasselhoff's popularity overseas, they were able to secure financing and revive "Baywatch" in 1991. Currently in its tenth year of production, the show enjoys continued success as "Baywatch Hawaii". Now a piece of American pop culture and an international television phenomenon, "Baywatch" (1989) is seen in 140 countries by over one billion viewers each week. During his lengthy career, Hasselhoff has flexed his acting muscles in numerous other projects. Most recently, he completed work on an epic miniseries "Shaka Zulu" (1986), shot on-location in Morocco. Hasselhoff is an outdoor sports enthusiast whose interests include scuba diving, hiking, white water rafting, tennis, and jogging. In addition, he has parachuted with the US Army Parachute Demonstration Team, The Golden Knights, and flown with the US Navy's Blue Angels. He is an avid sports fan, and has attended the World Cup Soccer Finals, the NBA Finals, the Olympics, the Indy 500, and the Kentucky Derby. Hasselhoff has traveled throughout Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. He was married to the beautiful actress Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff, with whom he has two daughters, Taylor-Ann and Hayley Amber.
